When Faith is Strong but the Mind is Tired....

We talk a lot about faith, calling, and obedience, but not enough about the condition of the mind of the people carrying all of that, and it’s starting to show. A lot of believers and leaders look strong on the outside, they serve, they show up, they pour into others, but internally they’re tired, mentally overloaded, and constantly trying to figure out what’s God, what’s pressure, and what’s just burnout, and because they’re considered “mature,” they don’t always feel like they have the space to be honest about it.
If we’re honest, some of that weight isn’t just life, it’s the result of church environments that have normalized pressure, ignored boundaries, and misunderstood authority, where everything feels urgent, rest feels like weakness, and people are taught to override what they’re sensing just to keep up. But the Ekklesia was never designed to function like that, it was meant to move with clarity, stability, and a sound mind, which means if we’re constantly operating from confusion, fear, or emotional exhaustion, something needs to be addressed, not about God but about what we’ve been taught to carry and what we’ve allowed to go unchecked.
This isn’t about criticizing the Church or tearing anything down, it’s about maturing it, because healthy leaders build healthy environments, and right now too many people are leading, serving, and showing up while carrying things that were never meant to sit on their mind or their soul. If you’ve been feeling the weight of that, if you’ve been trying to stay faithful while also feeling mentally drained or conflicted, you’re not crazy, but you also don’t have to stay there, which is exactly why I’m creating space to have these conversations in The Sound Mind Summit, so we can actually address what’s been happening and move forward with clarity.
